※ 以下シロート考え； この図によれば、２９名は大きく３つのグループに分かれた状態で事故に遭われたことになります。従って、 All or Nothing とはならないかも。また坑内で何かが燃え続けている、と云うよりくすぶり続けているとするならそれは多分石炭ですね。ならば必ずしも坑内が火の海と云う訳ではない筈。もちろん石炭が燃えている （炭火の様なもの？） 場所の温度は、どうでしょう、１０００度近いのでしょうか。しかし燃えるためには大量の酸素が必要。それだけ酸素があれば−−−
被害に遭われた鉱員さん達のご家族や仲間だって、この様な事故で生還出来る確率が極めて低いことはぼんやりながら認識されている筈だし、仰らないまでも最悪の場合の覚悟は出来ているでしょう。しかし傍観者に過ぎない私だって、死亡が確認されない限り望みは捨てられませんね。『奇跡』 あるいは 『祈る』 とは、きっとそういうことでしょう。そんな中で、 「生存は絶望」 的な発表をすることに何の意味があるのか理解に苦しみます。
なお、色々ネットで調べ回っていましたら、元三池炭鉱の炭鉱マンであった方のサイトを見付けましたので紹介。大変参考になります。その世界にいなければ知ることの出来ないことが一杯；

◆Trophy still waiting

West Coast Rugby League’s player of the year trophy is still sitting on president Peter Kerridge’s table, waiting to be engraved.
A fortnight ago he had the pleasure of handing it to Greymouth league star Blair Sims; now he hopes to have the chance to shake his hand again and hand over the engraved trophy.
−−−Michael Monk, 23, Riki Keane, 28 and Blair Sims, 28 （注：先日紹介の方） , are all current or former members of the Blaketown Rugby Club. （中略）
Blaketown’s 2008 coach Willie Iafeta, who guided Keane, Sims and Monk throughout the season when they won both the combined West Coast-Buller Jubilee Trophy and the Taylorville Wallsend Cup, has only high praise for the trio.
“They all stand out ... They’re all good guys. They’re the last fellows you’d want it to happen to.”
Mr Iafeta said Monk was a “real team man”, someone who looked out for all his team-mates — on and off the field.
Mr Sims was a “go-to guy” in the backline.“Blair is Blair. You always look for him when you’re on the back foot.”
And Mr Keane is a strong voice within the team, saying the right things at the right times, Mr Iafeta says.“He’s a sound defensive player, very deceptive.” （以下略）
