Prime Minister John Key said this afternoon the Pike River Mine will be sealed.
He told NZPA it was “obviously a very tragic end for the families,” saying there was little or no chance of the bodies of the 29 men killed being recovered. （以下略、引用終わり）
−−−Bernie Monk, spokesman of the families’ committee, said it was important to be able to get into the mine to get all the answers behind the explosions, which killed his 23-year-old son Michael.
“We always knew it could continue to be difficult to access but now we feel like we are being rushed. But rushing through is not an option for the families.”

※ ご遺族にして見れば当然のコメント。再入坑は難しいにしても、事故の真相まで一緒に封鎖されてしまうのは許せないでしょう。ご遺族は独自に調査を行っておられる様子、再入坑しなくとも真相は解明出来ることを期待されていると云うことか。

A nearly two-month attempt by police to retrieve the bodies of 29 men killed in a series of explosions in the Pike River mine, near Greymouth, is being abandoned.
Police Commissioner Howard Broad said the mine would instead be handed back to the receivers of the Pike River Coal company, PricewaterhouseCoopers. （以下略、引用終わり）

Up to 50 redundant Pike River Mine employees could soon be crossing the Tasman to take up lucrative positions in Australian pits.
Numerous Australian mining companies have been on the West Coast recently trying to tempt the miners into full migration, while others are offering to fly workers back to Christchurch for a nine-day break at the end of a broken 15-day shift. （以下略、引用終わり）
