※ "The Marine Corps dog was promoted today to E-5" の説明あり。上掲 Sergeant (Sgt.) によれば、 "In the U.S. Air Force, non-commissioned officers in the grade of staff sergeant (E-5)" 、 "The United States Marine Corps has several ranks that carry the title of sergeant, the lowest of which is Sergeant (Sgt). Marine sergeants are the fifth enlisted rank in the U.S. Marine Corps, just above corporal and below staff sergeant." Ｅ−５へ昇進だと sergeant から staff sergeant に昇格ですが、実際には corporal から sergeant への昇進。従ってこのビデオの説明は厳密に云えば間違いかな？

※ 右が先代第１２代マスコットであるチェスティーXII、マスコット交替時の写真らしい。でもこの時チェスティーXIIIは既に "Sgt." と記載されています。上掲ＣＮＮ記事では 『２０１０年５月に伍長 (corporal) の肩書をもらっていた』 とありますが−−− 何だかよくわからない。ランク付けは沢山あるし、陸海空でビミョーに違うみたいだし。

※ ２００８年の "puppy boot camp" 時の写真？ 生まれは２００７年６月３日、まだ仔犬。
海兵隊でどんな任務を遂行しているのかは知りませんが、今回の昇進はその風貌によるもの。でもイングリッシュ・ブルドッグですから、実際には温厚且つ愛情深い性格の筈。
