【ガザ市（パレスチナ自治区）花岡洋二】イスラエルのネタニヤフ首相は６日、オバマ米大統領とホワイトハウスで会談。関係が一時冷えきっていたオバマ大統領との３カ月半ぶりの会談で、ホワイトハウスの敷地を並んで歩くなど「友好」を印象づける演出に成功した。米の仲介で間接交渉が行われているイスラエルとパレスチナの中東和平問題でも、オバマ大統領から秋には直接交渉を始めたいという意向を引き出したことで得点を稼いだ格好だ。 （中略）
−−− 一方、核兵器保有を強く疑われているイスラエルは５月末の核拡散防止条約（ＮＰＴ）再検討会議の最終文書で、中東非核地帯構想に向けた１２年の国際会議への参加とＮＰＴ加盟を要求された。会談後の声明によると、オバマ大統領は首相に「イスラエルが孤立する可能性があれば、（１２年の）会議が開かれる可能性は低い」とした上で、「国の規模、歴史的・地理的な位置付けや過去に受けた脅しを考慮すれば、独自の安全保障策が必要だと確信する」と伝えた。
イスラエル紙イディオト・アハロノトによると、核兵器保有を否定も肯定もしない同国の「あいまい政策」に対する大統領の支持を取り付けた内容だという。 （以下略）

Israel's Army Radio reported on Wednesday that the United States has sent Israel a secret document committing to nuclear cooperation between the two countries.
According to Army Radio, the U.S. has reportedly pledged to sell Israel materials used to produce electricity, as well as nuclear technology and other supplies, despite the fact that Israel is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Other countries have refused to cooperate with Israel on nuclear matters because it has not signed the NPT, and there has been increasing international pressure for Israel to be more transparent about its nuclear arsenal. （以下略）

BARACK OBAMA: Let me first of all say that I think the Israeli government working through layers of various governmental entities and jurisdictions have shown restraint over the last seven months that I think has been conducive to the prospects of us getting into direct talks. I think it is very important that the Palestinians not look for excuses for incitement, that they’re not engaging in provocative language, that at the international level they are maintaining a constructive talk as opposed to looking for opportunities to embarrass Israel.
BENJAMIN NETANYAHU: We don’t want a repeat of the situation where we vacate territories and those are overtaken by Iran’s proxies and used as launching grounds for terrorist attacks, rocket attacks. I think there are solutions that we can adopt—but in order to proceed to the solution, we need to begin negotiations in order to end them. Without proximity talks, I think it’s high time to begin direct talks.
