望遠鏡が無くとも楽しめる天体ショー； 私は７月１２日のスーパームーンを失念しておりましたが、今年はまだ２回チャンスがありそう；

    　”The scientific term for the phenomenon is "perigee moon." Full Moons vary in size because of the oval shape of the Moon's orbit. The Moon follows an elliptical path around Earth with one side ("perigee") about 50,000 km closer than the other ("apogee"). Full Moons that occur on the perigee side of the Moon's orbit seem extra big and bright. / This coincidence happens three times in 2014. On July 12th and Sept 9th the Moon becomes full on the same day as perigee. On August 10th it becomes full during the same hour as perigee—arguably making it an extra-super Moon." ”

    スーパームーンの時には大規模な自然災害や社会的な暴動など不吉なことが起こると一部で騒がれているが、実際には潮位の干満差が少し大きくなる程度で、これらの関連付けは科学的根拠がないものである[4][5]。ただし、深さ40km以内の比較的浅い地点で起こる地震については、月の引力により断層にかかる力が大きくなればなるほど地震が発生しやすくなるという学説もある[6][7]。
