ゲルニカ爆撃から７５年 〜 原画 および ３つのタペストリー
２０１２年４月２６日は、 ピカソ の絵により世界中に知られることとなったまち ゲルニカ 爆撃７５回忌でした；

■ Gernika-Lumo （euskara; バスク語）
−−−1937年の作品は縦3.5m、横7.8mの大作である。キャンバスに工業用絵具ペンキによって描かれた。これが後に絵画としての傷みの要因となるが、大作にしては短時間（1ヶ月弱）で描ききれた（油彩よりも乾きが速く、作業効率も高い上にコストも安い）のである。当時の絵画としては珍しくモノクロームで描かれている。あえて血の色を見せなかったことが格別の効果を与えている。各部分の習作や、後のタペストリー作品は彩色が施されている。 （以下略、引用終わり）
なおピカソは大戦後この絵と同じ図柄のタペストリーを３つ制作させたとのことですが、その所在は幾つかの記事をつなぎ合わせてみますと；

−−− When Kykuit reopens for the season on Saturday, May 7th （引用者注：２０１１年） , an intriguing loan makes a visit to Kykuit even more special. A full-scale tapestry after Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica, woven in 1955 by Mme. J.de la Baume Dürrbach, is on display in the galleries at Kykuit, on loan from Mrs. Nelson A. Rockefeller and her son, Nelson, until October 2011. The tapestry has made its home at the U.N. ピカソが７５年前に反戦の象徴と祀り上げられるこの絵を描いたココロはわかりませんが、その後も今日に至るまで、劣らず悲惨な爆撃・殺戮は止むことがありません。正常な感覚が完全にマヒしてしまった様です。
